Attending the Small Business Sunday (SBS) Winners Event with Theo Paphitis

A Truly Inspiring Day at the Small Business Sunday Event

Wow - what an incredible and inspiring day.

I recently had the privilege of attending an SBS winners event, where small businesses from across the UK gathered for a day of talks, networking and reflection. Being in a room full of passionate, hardworking entrepreneurs was energising and humbling all at once.

For those who may not know, SBS (Small Business Sunday), founded by Theo Paphitis, celebrates and supports small businesses across the country. To be part of this community means a lot, and I feel incredibly grateful to have been invited.

The Power of Small Business Community

One of the most special parts of the day was meeting fellow SBS winners in person. There’s something powerful about connecting face-to-face after supporting one another online.

Running a small creative business can sometimes feel solitary, so being surrounded by people who understand the journey - the risks, the growth, the determination , was both reassuring and motivating.

A huge thank you to Theo and his wonderful team, and to all the speakers who shared their insights so generously.

A particular highlight was hearing from Katie Piper, whose story and perspective were both moving and inspiring.

Meaningful Connections

It was also amazing to finally meet Handmade By Sharlotte in person after five years of messaging support and encouragement, a true example of how small business friendships grow over time.

I loved reconnecting with Apoyo Courses, someone I’ve known outside of SBS too. We actually attended a breastfeeding group together over 13 years ago when our youngest children were born. Life has a beautiful way of bringing people back together in new chapters.

Meeting SNOAP and hearing her story previously as a Dragon’s Den winner is inspiring to see female founders pushing forward with courage and belief.

A special mention also goes to Mel Langton Art, who generously gave her time to create a collage of SBS winners - such a thoughtful and creative gesture.

Reflecting on the Journey

Days like this remind me why I do what I do.

Following your dream, building something meaningful and connecting with people through creativity is never a straight line - but it is always worth it.

I feel incredibly lucky to be able to share happy, colourful artwork through my products and workshops, and even luckier to be part of a community that supports and uplifts one another.

Thank you to everyone who believes in me and supports Lisa’s Local Art - through purchases, workshop bookings, recommendations, kind messages or shares. It truly makes a difference.

I’ll keep bringing you happy artwork. 🎨
