The Story Behind the Painting That Became My Logo

Original colourful wildflower meadow painting by Bristol artist Lisa Jefferies, featuring a bright summer sun and vibrant flowers.

If you've ever visited my website, spotted my logo or stopped by my stall at a market, you've already seen this painting.

This colourful wildflower meadow beneath a bright summer sun has become the artwork people most associate with Lisa's Local Art. It sits behind my logo, appears across my branding and has become the heart of my business. But its story began long before Lisa's Local Art became what it is today.

A Painting With Meaning

Back in February 2021, I stood in front of a blank canvas with an idea that had been growing in my mind.

I wanted to create something that captured everything I love about nature - the joy of colourful wildflowers, the warmth of sunshine and that peaceful feeling you get on a beautiful summer's day.

As the flowers slowly filled the canvas, each one painted by hand, I realised this piece was becoming something quite special. Layer by layer, the meadow grew into a celebration of colour, happiness and hope.

Looking back now, I had no idea this painting would become the artwork that would define my business.

The Perfect Mother's Day Gift

Original colourful wildflower meadow painting from the owner by Bristol artist Lisa Jefferies, featuring a bright summer sun and vibrant flowers.

Not long after I completed the painting, it found its forever home.

It was purchased as a Mother's Day gift, and I remember feeling incredibly honoured that someone had chosen one of my original paintings to celebrate someone so special.

There's something magical about knowing a painting has become part of a families story. Rather than sitting in my studio, it now hangs in their home, bringing colour and happiness every day.

As an artist, that's one of the greatest compliments I could receive. Was nice to receive a picture (shown here) on their wall.

The Artwork That Became My Signature

Although the original painting had been sold, I couldn't let it go completely.

The more I looked at it, the more I realised it represented everything I wanted Lisa's Local Art to stand for.

Colour.

Joy.

Nature.

Optimism.

Creativity.

Happiness.

It was the obvious choice to sit behind my logo, and over the years it has quietly become my signature artwork.

Whenever people recognise it at an exhibition, on a greeting card or on social media, it reminds me just how far this little painting has travelled.

From One Canvas to a Whole Collection

One of the things I love most is seeing how a single original painting can take on a whole new life.

Once an original painting is finished, I professionally photograph and prepare it so it can be transformed into a range of products. This means the artwork can be enjoyed in lots of different ways, whether you're looking for a thoughtful gift or a little treat for yourself.

The same brushstrokes that began on one canvas in February 2021 have since inspired a growing collection of products, including:

  • Greeting cards

  • Mugs

  • Coasters

  • Compact mirrors

  • Notebooks

  • Tote bags

  • Ceramic gifts

  • Key Rings

  • Chopping Boards

Whether it's someone drinking their morning coffee from a mug, writing in a notebook or sending one of my greeting cards, that original painting continues to spread a little colour and happiness.

Why This Painting Will Always Be Special

Although I've painted many originals since then, this one will always hold a special place in my heart.

It reminds me where my journey really began.

It reminds me that art isn't just about paint on a canvas, it's about the memories we create, the gifts we give and the happiness we share with others.

It's more than just a painting.

It's the artwork that became the heart of Lisa's Local Art.

Which Version Is Your Favourite?

I always enjoy hearing which products people love most. Some people fall in love with the original painting, while others can't resist taking the artwork home as a mug, tote bag or greeting card.

I'd love to know, would you choose the original painting, or is there a product you'd love to own featuring this artwork? Let me know in the comments or when you next see me at a market!

If you'd like to see this collection in person, visit one of my stockists or browse the latest artwork and gifts in my online shop. Every purchase supports my small Bristol business and allows me to keep creating colourful artwork inspired by the places and flowers I love.
